Dose of Happy – My Own Personal Blogher(Not To Be Confused With Jesus)(Or Pizza)

06 Aug

Over at Band Back Together we’re feeling like we want to junk punch the next person who asks us if we have a case of the Mondays.  So instead of doing the time in the resulting anger management program, we decided to take Monday back.  So we’re linking up our Dose of Happy posts as usual and bringing the awesome back to Mondays.  What’s not usual is that today is Happiness Day.  Which means that we have to look extra hard for that happy today.  You can play too.  Now get  your happy on.  And spread the word.  Unlike head colds and pubic lice, this is something we want to share.

So this is me.  And my internet bestie, Lisa.  We met, internet style, almost a year ago working at BandBackTogether and quickly bonded over a shared recovery from social work, the toll parenting takes on a body and, obvi, balls and handjobs.  Somewhere along the way she offered me a spot at her baby, Trifecta, and I jumped at the chance.  We’ve texted and/or emailed pretty much every day since.

So this is me and her.  No big whoop, right?  Except she has taken up residence (as a stop on her madcap journey to conquer the world by putting down roots all over it) in Hong Kong and I keep it real in Ptown, OR.  This picture is of us meeting IRL(in real life for you non-blogging types) in the airport in Dallas, TX.  Happenstance placed us in the same relative place at the same time.  On motherfucking Happiness Day, no less.

Just in case you’re wondering she’s every bit as balls out awesomesauce as she’s always been.  I say always been because I have known her close to a year, even it it’s only over the internet.  Her son, who is a total stud bee tee dubbers, asked her if we were real friends and when she said we’d never met in person he said it didn’t count.  But it does.  And I’d bet all the money I’ve got(ha) that 4,00 chicks in New York this past weekend would totally agree.  I’d also bet a good deal of cashola that non-internet geeks like us might not.

If you know Lisa, you know she  doesn’t play much close to the vest.  Which is also how I roll.  Anything you want to know is pretty much yours for the asking.  And there’s been a lot of asking.  We’ve shared little things like favorite books and big things like miscarriage and a lot of handjob related and gallows humor thrown in for good measure.  She’s been a source of support, commiseration and much appreciated laughter for me.  I would say she’s the wind beneath my wings but, well, you know.  Also because there’s probably a quota on the number of times you can use the word fag for comedy without being a total asshole.  (There is.  It’s 0.)

The gist I’m lumbering towards is a)clearly I think Lisa is the shiz, but larger than that b)internet friendships really can be real even if you’ve never met the person irl and even if you never will.  Sure, there will be the occasional Catfish situation(do not click link if you don’t want spoilers) or other misrepresentations, but the internet isn’t just a cold, mechanized system of tubes sucking and blowing bits of information around between this individual and that.  I see it more like a series of honey bee colonies lovin’, givin’ and working for a livin’ within the larger hive of the internet.  I count myself lucky to be alive in a time where we can create other worlds restricted only by the depth of our imaginations.  And to be creating them alongside such innovators as my Bandmates, both former and present.

You’re so freaking awesome, yo. I’m sorry it took me like three weeks to respond to this. You know my computer is sad in the pants with the IT guy.

I love you. It was awesome meeting you. In real life. Now Dylan can’t FUCKING JUDGE US. Just kidding. (Can’t say fuck about five year olds, right?)

You’re totes my internet bestie, and I want to get us charms. Obvs.

You should’ve edited the shit out of me. I look like I’d been up since three am. Oh, wait.

I need to give my own recap on my own blog, but for now I’ll just say that Joules is way, way, way nicer than I am. She smells good and her hair is nice and her clothes match. She looks like a real member of society and she speaks with a really nice, soft, motherly-almost tone. You’d never imagine the word “hand job” coming from those lips. That makes it all the more awesome when she’s all BOOM with the hand job. She drives a cool car and she drives it well and she’s nice to children she doesn’t even have to be nice to. All in all, I heart Joules.

        Best layover ever.
